Often compared to the likes of Jerry Clower and Andy Griffith, Joey Thurmond is a former WCW professional wrestler/clown/retired police officer/actor and star of the new hit serious "Funny Bu$iness".

As the "World's Funniest Cop", Dan Whitehurst is a nationally known veteran comedian that has played some of the hottest clubs in the country and has appeared on the hit TV show "Nashville" as well as the nationally syndicated radio show "Bob & Tom in the Morning".

After retiring from police work in 2005, Dan has kept himself busy performing for corporate events, clubs and now at the Iris Theater in Gatlinburg, Tennessee!

The Tellin’ Tales Comedy Tour with Joey & Dan will be making their Gatlinburg TN debut in April 2017 as the area’s newest comedy show.  The show recently signed a deal with the management at the Iris Theater located at the Space Needle complex in downtown Gatlinburg TN for dates April through July of 2017 with an option for renewal for the duration of 2017.  The tour has amassed quite a following after touring the United States since 2015 and headlining regularly in Branson MO during the 2015-2016 seasons.  

A quick glance at the Tellin’ Tales website shows tour dates in GA, OK, MO, IL, NC, and more in addition to the dates to be added in Gatlinburg.  

“We are very excited to add the Tellin’ Tales Comedy Tour with Joey & Dan to our family here at the Iris Theater” said Chris Robel theater manager and star of the Impossibilities Magic Show.  The show stars former WCW Professional Wrestler and star of the television series “Funny Business” Joey Thurmond and Nationally known and award winning comedian Dan Whitehurst. 

The show bills itself as clean, storytelling comedy by “America’s Funniest Cops”.  When asked about their style, “There are a lot of unique qualities to our show and style”, said Joey.  One uniqueness of the show is that it’s a comedy duo, something that has not been the norm in recent years. Another, is that it’s not the quick one-liner type nor insulting comedy.   

“We perform a show that is quality for all ages and uplifting too”, said Dan.  Both are very proud of their service as police officers and their Christian faith.  “We draw our stories and routines from real situations that we experienced both on and off the force”, said Joey.  Reviews of past shows have quotes like, “Not really standup comedy.  More like sit back relax and spend some time with great friends that are hilarious”, “Funny, Real-life comedy”, “Not the corny yuk, yuk comedy”,

“A show that’s proud of their American roots and clean for the entire family”.

When asked about the mention of Windell the Daredevil Chicken, the only Daredevil Chicken in the World, the duo simply smiled and said “He will appear in every show and you don’t want to miss it!"

At any rate this all-new show coming to the newly remodeled Iris Theater inside the Space Needle Complex in downtown Gatlinburg is sure to be a hit with locals and tourists alike.
